I want to help your student master biology

I graduated from Smith College in 2024 with a double major in biochemistry and geology. My senior honors thesis on genetically modifying mosquito (Aedes albopictus) immune systems using CRISPR-Cas9 received the highest honors. I also received the Margaret Wemple Bringham Prize for my thesis research upon graduation. My academic dedication is also reflected in my position on the Dean’s list and my “Mastery” score on the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) Exam, which has a 30% pass rate. I am, currently, beginning my Master of Science at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins – ranked the best public health school in the world.

While completing my undergraduate degree, I was a teaching assistant for paleontology and served as an educator in microscopy. These jobs were some of the most fulfilling and joyful positions I have had because I had the opportunity to share my passion for these subjects with my students; seeing their excitement for the topics grow as I helped teach them was a wonderful experience. I am incredibly passionate about biology and research and aim to bring that dedication and excitement to your students.

I grew up with learning difficulties that forced me, early on, to realize that many traditional study strategies often didn’t work for me. So, I developed my own strategies that helped me learn the material faster and remember it longer! These techniques have truly been instrumental in my academic success throughout high school and college, and I would be eager to work with your student to determine how they learn best. The sooner they develop strong study habits and strategies, the more fun school becomes, and I would be honored to help them get there.
